Education
Sunday, January 18, 2009 7:44Education seems to be a national US pastime. I am thrilled to join the ranks of those going back to school so they can refine their knowledge base and contribute more to the planet.
I am going to school at Stanford. Attending Stanford something I have wanted to do since I was 14 or 15 years old. With such an excellent resource in my ‘backyard’ and so many questions on my mind there is no time like the present.
I sincerely need to brush up my math skills. This semester I am starting with statistics. I recently received my ‘ancient’ transcripts and discovered that I took stats over 20 years ago when I was in engineering school (early to mid 80s). The experience had little application for me at the time. Hence, I didn’t enjoy the class. Ultimately, I forgot a majority of what I learned. Now I have a base of knowledge in my industry and theories outside my industry I’d like to prove so others can add to the knowledge collection.
After I refresh the math and science base I plan to define the area of study I pursue. (Neuroscience, genomics, the epigenome, and alternative energy are my main areas of interest)
If you are studying something or are considering studying anything you are passionate about I encourage you to continue. It is a very enjoyable experience.
What are you studing? Please post your most interesting learnings to encourage collaboration.
