Education

Education seems to be a national US pastime. I am thrilled to join the ranks of those going back to school so they can refine their knowledge base and contribute more to the planet.

I am going to school at Stanford. Attending Stanford something I have wanted to do since I was 14 or 15 years old. With such an excellent resource in my ‘backyard’ and so many questions on my mind there is no time like the present.

I sincerely need to brush up my math skills. This semester I am starting with statistics. I recently received my ‘ancient’ transcripts and discovered that I took stats over 20 years ago when I was in engineering school (early to mid 80s). The experience had little application for me at the time. Hence, I didn’t enjoy the class. Ultimately, I forgot a majority of what I learned. Now I have a base of knowledge in my industry and theories outside my industry I’d like to prove so others can add to the knowledge collection.

After I refresh the math and science base I plan to define the area of study I pursue. (Neuroscience, genomics, the epigenome, and alternative energy are my main areas of interest)

If you are studying something or are considering studying anything you are passionate about I encourage you to continue. It is a very enjoyable experience.

What are you studing? Please post your most interesting learnings to encourage collaboration.

Worldwalk Media blog launch

Good Morning from Shanghai China,

I am launching the blog, Worldwalk Media Blog today. The topics for discussion are communications, technology and global collaboration. These are the areas we practice in at Worldwalk Media. I’ve been working, exploring and actively experimenting in this field for 20 years. Serving in this field is a pleasure. Learning is even more interesting. Making friends, colleagues and serving clients globally is my passion.

Some of the most challenging issues of this practice are in the areas of efficiency, high level of technology iteration, and adoption from the user prospective. One important issue facing us today is doing something meaningful with the technology at hand.

Meaningful can be defined in many ways. One could define it as return on investment which we have been focused on for decades. One could also define meaning as helping find solutions to the current global issues at hand; global warming, overpopulation, environmental degradation, urban planning and over consumption.

I am speaking on a panel at adtech Shanghai today on the topic of widget development. Social media marketing will be discussed on the panel as well. Please join us at adtech Shanghai if you are local. Please follow this blog or the adtech site if you can’t be present. I’ll be posting updates there.

This blog is open to comments and being moderated.
